Welcoming Shizuoka Salesio School to Dominic College

20 October 2025

Dominic College was delighted to welcome our sister school, Shizuoka Salesio School, for a memorable five-day visit to Tasmania. As a fellow Salesian school, this special connection provided a meaningful opportunity for cultural exchange, friendship, and shared learning.

The Year 6 students from Shizuoka Salesio School immersed themselves in the life of our school community, participating in a variety of activities that highlighted both Australian and Japanese cultures. One of the highlights of their visit was a day spent exploring Hobart with host families, where students enjoyed local sights and experiences in small groups, forming bonds that transcended language barriers.

During their time at Dominic College, the Japanese students attended classes alongside our students, engaging in lessons led by both Australian and Japanese teachers. These collaborative sessions fostered mutual understanding and curiosity, enriching the learning experience for everyone involved.

Beyond the classroom, students shared meals, played games, and participated in a beautiful liturgy that celebrated our shared Salesian values. The warmth, joy, and respect shown throughout the visit were a testament to the spirit of unity that defines our schools.

We are grateful to the staff, students, and families who helped make this visit such a success. The friendships formed and memories made will continue to inspire our community, reminding us of the power of connection and the importance of global citizenship.
