Learning and wellbeing are at the heart of daily life at Dominic College. Our goal is to create and maintain a safe, happy, and harmonious environment where students feel supported, inspired, and encouraged to strive for academic excellence. We are committed to nurturing the whole child—intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually.
Don Bosco Oratory Program
The Don Bosco Oratory Program is Dominic College’s comprehensive social and emotional wellbeing program for students from Kindergarten to Year 10.
Grounded in the four pillars of the Salesian Charter, the Oratory Program draws from a range of evidence-based learning sequences tailored to each year level. It is explicitly taught across all grades and aims to equip students with lifelong skills for wellbeing and success.
The program is designed to empower students and help them flourish in all aspects of life.
It focuses on:
• Positive emotion
• Personal growth
• Character strengths
• Social and emotional resilience
Dominic College also implements Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to foster a calm, welcoming, and effective learning environment.
The College’s four core expectations are:
• We are Respectful
• We are Responsible
• We are Honest
• We are Learners
“If we are one in heart, we can do ten times as much.”

Student Leadership and Structure
Inspired by our founder Don Bosco, Dominic College places a strong emphasis on student leadership, particularly the influence of older students on younger peers. Leadership is viewed not as a position of privilege, but as a commitment to service in the Salesian tradition.
Each year, two College Captains and two Vice Captains are elected from both the Year 6 and Year 10 cohorts. These students represent the College at formal events and serve as role models throughout the school year.
The Year 10 College Captains also attend the annual Salesian Leaders Conference alongside peers from other Salesian schools across Australia.
Students from Years 3 to 9 are elected to represent their peers on the SRC. This council meets regularly to provide a platform for student voice, allowing ideas and concerns to be shared and addressed.
In Year 6, two House Captains are elected per house to lead in areas such as academics, sport, mission, and the creative arts.
In Year 10 there are four House Captains per House. The four captains are responsible for leading their House, and each also has a focus on a different area - academics, creative arts, mission or sports.
Counselling
Dominic College employs two qualified school counsellors who provide confidential support to students. They also work closely with parents, carers, and teachers to help resolve challenges that may impact a student’s wellbeing or learning.
