The Salesian Strenna, meaning “gift” in Italian, is the annual spiritual theme set by the Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco. It guides and inspires members of the global Salesian family including priests, brothers, sisters and laypeople throughout the year.
Our Current Strenna
The 2026 Salesian Strenna, “Believers, Free to Serve” calls the Salesian Family to embrace Mary’s words at the Wedding at Cana as a guiding invitation to listen attentively to Christ, respond with trust, and live out faith through joyful service. It emphasises that true freedom is found in faith, which empowers believers to act courageously and generously in service to others, especially the young and marginalised.
Building on the hope-centered message of the 2025 Strenna, this year’s theme shifts toward action, encouraging the Salesian Family worldwide to unite in putting faith into practice through concrete acts of love, collaboration, and mission.
